OAA is offering FREE DAPP dog vaccines for dogs in the north Tulsa community on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Chamberlain Park, 4940 N. Frankfort Ave., Tulsa. The DAPP vaccine helps prevent distemper and parvo.
Cases of distemper recently closed the Tulsa Animal Shelter, and have been seen in community dogs in this area. Distemper is highly contagious and can be fatal for unvaccinated dogs (of any age) and puppies. ALL dogs need to be vaccinated against distemper, regardless of age.
The vaccines will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. We have 400 vaccines to distribute at this event. No personal or pet information will be collected at this event.
DAPP is the ONLY vaccine/service being offered. There will be no cat vaccines offered at this time.
EVENT RULES:
1. This is a drive-thru style event. Please stay in your car with your dog(s) and wait to be directed to a vaccine station. Walk-ups will be directed to a vaccine station.
2. Do NOT bring any dogs that are sick (i.e., diarrhea, vomiting, upper respiratory signs, like goopy eyes, drainage from nose.)
3. Do NOT bring any aggressive dogs that can’t be easily handled/vaccinated.
4. Bring your dog on a secure collar and leash.
5. Do NOT allow your dog to interact with other people’s dogs.
6. Do NOT bring any dogs younger than 6 weeks to be vaccinated. Puppies need 3 rounds of boosters of the DAPP vaccine at 3 weeks apart to be fully immunized and protected.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Flint Family Foundation, we’re excited to re-establish Oklahoma Alliance for Animals’ H.E.L.P. Tulsa (Helping End Local Pet-Overpopulation) – a low-cost spay and neuter initiative – serves pets in Tulsa city limits.
H.E.L.P Tulsa will work to reduce pet overpopulation by distributing low-cost spay and neuter services through two ways:
Low-Cost Vouchers
If you live in one of the targeted zip codes (74110, 74115, 74116, 74108, 74126, 74106, 74127, 74134, 74128, and 74130) and cannot afford full-cost spay and neuter services, you can come to our office at 7140 S. 69th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74133 on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to pick up a voucher.
Driver’s license with a qualifying zip code or bill with address in owner’s name will be requested at pick up. Please bring $10 per voucher. We accept cash or cards. DO NOT BRING THE PETS TO OUR OFFICE. If you have questions on what you need to bring with you, call (918) 742-3700.
Vouchers will not be issued to animal rescues. They are for individually owned pets only.

David Jennings, a local physician and photographer, has kindly put together a 2022 calendar – filled with his original photos – benefiting OAA! The majority of the beautiful landscape photos were taken in northeastern Oklahoma.
Each calendar is $15 with the $8 proceeds going to OAA.
Calendars will be available for pickup at the OAA office, 5321 S. Sheridan Rd., Ste. 30, Tulsa, OK 74145 beginning Monday, October 11. TAILS N TRAILS Dog Hike Fundraiser was created so pet owners can experience a fun, unique, outdoor experience with their dog(s) and fellow dog lovers! All proceeds from the event will benefit OAA. Event is co-hosted by Pawsitive Veterinary Care.
The TAILS N TRAILS Dog Hike Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 15 at River Parks Authority‘s Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area at 67th and South Elwood in Tulsa. The hike will kick-off at 10 a.m. Check-in will begin at 9:15 a.m. Course is rated as moderate and will take around 30 minutes to complete.**Registration available now! Sponsorships and vendor space available too!**
Registration will be $45 per dog participant (multiple humans per dog allowed). Registration includes one human T-shirt and matching dog bandana and other goodies in your hike packet (you will have the chance to purchase additional shirts and bandanas on the registration page). Packet pick up and early check-in will begin the week before the race and on the day of the hike at 9:15 a.m.
Hikers will have the opportunity to create their own TAILS N TRAILS fundraising page through Network for Good. The top three fundraisers will be recognized with some really great prizes!
TAILS N TRAILS BARKET will host lots of neat vendors and exhibitors, including veterinary clinics, trainers, rescues and more. The Barket will also feature an agility course for your dog to try out. You never know … maybe they have a hidden talent!

There are two very important bills being heard this Wednesday morning, February 24. The Pet Store bill, HB1581 will be heard at 9:00 a.m. in the House Business and Commerce committee and the Anti-tethering bill, HB1580 will be heard at 10:30 a.m. in the House Judiciary (Criminal) committee. We are recommending strong support of both bills, and we need you to contact the members of both committees and ask them to vote yes. We need to get as many calls and emails into these committee members as possible and before 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, February 24.
HB1581 – Prohibiting pet stores from selling dogs or cats
Sponsored by Representative Mickey Dollens (D-Oklahoma City) this bill would prohibit the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores, but does not restrict a pet store from providing a space for the display of dogs and cats by an animal rescue organization or a public animal shelter for adoption. HB1580 – Prohibiting persons from chaining or tethering a dog under certain circumstances
Sponsored by Representative Mickey Dollens (D-Oklahoma City), the proposed bill would stipulate tethers meet certain requirements; provides conditions for which a person may confine a dog outside; requires access to water and shelter, provides shelter enclosure requirements, prohibits leaving a dog outside in certain weather conditions; provides exceptions; prohibits certain cruel and inhumane actions; and imposes penalties. Where to begin … this year has been rough. When COVID-19 reared its ugly head in March, we had no idea how dramatically it would impact our organization. Even now, I can’t begin to fathom the full repercussions this pandemic will have on Oklahoma Alliance for Animals and the pets we serve.
We had to cancel our Woofstock adoption event and postpone our annual fundraising gala – Fur Ball – along with numerous other fundraising events we would have normally hosted throughout the year.
Yet, as we cancel or postpone the critical events that financially support our organization, the need for our help skyrockets throughout our community.

There is only a 25% occupancy for the game, so tickets are extremely limited. The four tickets are in section 27, row 61.
Tickets for the raffle are $20 each, and proceeds will go to OAA. We are extremely grateful to our generous donor and board member for gifting us the tickets.
